Run & Walk for the Arts, Athletes, and Health

Run and Walk to Support Wings Track Club and community organizations

Saturday, October 9, 2021 - Family Fun 5k Run and Walk

In a year that has been like no other, we are running and walking to provide outlets and opportunities for youth in our community!

This year, the Wings Track Club is hosting a day that will include a 5k (3.1 miles) walk and run around the Kitty Hollow Park, financial literacy clinics, musical and art showcases, and a health fair. We will also have a Kids Zone with inflatables for youth. Think about it - you get to run or walk with friends and family, AND you help to further the mission of great non-profits and foundations, such as, the Edison Arts Foundation, Fort Bend Expose Excellence Youth Program, Healthy Housing Foundation, Missouri City Parks Foundation, National Forum for Black Public Administrators, Wings Track Club, and Women in Jazz.

Step 1

Register

Donate $35 to receive a 5k t-shirt.  Donate or raise $200 as an individual on a team and receive a swag bag (includes 5k t-shirt, water bottle, and more).

Register

Step 2

Start fundraising

Each Run and Walk participant will receive a JustGiving fundraising page, with a suggested give/raise minimum goal of $200 (but no need to stop there! 😀 ). Fundraise on your own, or create a Team fundraising page to join fundraising forces with your colleagues, friends and family.

Teams consist of 6 members and asked to raise a minimum of $1,200.

Step 3

Complete your 5k run/walk

Run/walk will be held at Kitty Hollow Park, 9555 Hwy 6, Missouri City, TX 77459 at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021.

Meet Our Runners and Walkers

Teamwork: The Formula for Success

Step 1: DESIGNATE ONE RUNNER/WALKER AS THE TEAM CAPTAIN.
Secure and recruit additional team members to form a team of no more than six people (including the team captain).  If you have more than six runners/walkers, you will need to form a second team

Step 2: COME UP WITH A FUN TEAM NAME
If a company/organization has several teams participating, you should preface your team name with the company name.  Example:  Wing Track Club’s – Killer Walkers, Wing Track Club’s Walking Champions.  Feel free to come up with a theme for your team.  You can even wear coordinated attire.

Step 3:  SET A TEAM GOAL
Example: Meet with your team members and establish a strategy and then establish an aggressive but obtainable goal

Step 4: SET UP TEAM SITE
The Team Captain will first set up your team online.  Once that is complete, the remaining team members can then register online and join that same team.

Step 5: SET A WALKER GOAL
Example: 6 walkers x $200 donation = $1,200 raised (Note:  That’s only $20 from ten people!
(Note: in order to receive a t-shirt walkers must contribute $35)

Step 6: CREATE YOUR OWN PERSONAL WEBPAGE
After a walker is registered online, they can create their own webpage.  From there, they have access to different tools to assist them in raising funds/donations.  There are sample emails that can be customized and sent to existing contacts.  These emails will explain how to support the run and walk.  Individuals will receive a confirmation every time a donation is made on their behalf.

Step 7: PLAN HOW TO REACH YOUR TEAM GOAL
Example: identify a top walker (someone you know is committed to raise $200 plus) offer incentives to your top walkers.
